Bindi Irwin under fire for teaming up with Seaworld

NEW YORK, March 7 (UPI) -- Bindi Irwin, the 15-year-old daughter of crocodile hunter Steve Irwin, has teamed up with SeaWorld theme parks and some fans aren't too happy about that.

The teen, who has kept up her father's legacy of wildlife education and entertainment since his death in 2006, announced on Good Morning America that she plans to work with the maligned marine entertainment group as a youth ambassador.

"We are so thrilled to finally be joining SeaWorld on a brand-new initiative called generation nature, which is all about encouraging kids to get involved and be game changers," Bindi said. "Go to seaworldkids.com and it's all about encouraging kids to become game changers and getting out. Having backyard cleanups. Clean up the beach day with your friends. Sending in photos and videos that we can check out of what they have been doing to change the world. And just encouraging kids to become empowered to change the world for themselves."

But some fans aren't as excited as Bindi about her new role, citing allegations that SeaWorld mistreats its animals in the Oscar-nominated documentary Blackfish.

The announcement caused some to take to Twitter to give Bindi and SeaWorld a peace of their minds.

Some even called for the young conservationist end to her relationship with SeaWorld in a petition.
