NEW YORK, March 5 (UPI) -- Lea Michele has an album out and a memoir in the works. But George Stephanopoulos, who interviewed the Glee star for Good Morning America on Wednesday, jumped right in with a question about her difficult year, started by the sudden death of boyfriend Cory Monteith.

"I’m really very, very, very thankful for all the amazing people I have in my life,” the 27-year-old said. “I know that sounds like something everyone says, but honestly, my friends and my family, they got me through this and really, really have been there for me and I couldn’t have done it without them."

Monteith, of course, died after a heroine and alcohol overdose last summer. Michele dedicated several songs to the late actor on her debut solo album, Louder, which dropped Wednesday.

"I wanted to take this opportunity in making this record to really let my fans know who I am, and I think the music should be personal," she said of the personal nature of her songs.

As for Glee, which will end its six-season run next year, Michele said she can't imagine what life will be like without the show that made her a household name.

“Just getting through one episode is very difficult, so to think about 33 from now, we have a lot still to do,” she said. "[The last day on set] will be beyond, beyond, beyond emotional," she said.

Michele has also been working on a book, Brunette Ambition, described as "part memoir, part how-to, and part style guide." She told GMA that its just another way for her to reach out to her fans.

“I felt that I had I had a lot I wanted to say for my fans and for young girls who wanted to hear a little bit about my story,” she said. “So many of my fans want to know how I got to where I am today, and want to see the obstacles I had to cross to get to where I am.”
