Alexa Ray Joel, Billy Joel's daughter, will perform April 1-12 in NYC

NEW YORK, March 5 (UPI) -- Alexa Ray Joel is set to perform at The Café Carlyle in New York City from April 1-12 of this year.

The 28-year-old singer and daughter of celebrated musician and performer Billy Joel will take up residency in April inside The Carlyle hotel. She has previously performed and held residency at the Oak Room in The Plaza hotel.

Like her father, Alexa Ray is a native New Yorker and shares his love for New York City. She attended NYU as a freshman, and has performed at numerous charity and fashion events in the city.

Joel self-released and independently distributed her first EP, Sketches, in 2006. She has released several singles since, including the song "Just the Way You Are" in September 2013. The single is her interpretation of her father's 1977 version of the song.

The singer was chosen in 2010 to be the new spokeswoman for Ultimark Product's Prell shampoo brand, and her songs served as the background music for the ads. Her mother, model Christie Brinkley, was the face of Prell in 1986.
