NASHVILLE, March 4 (UPI) -- Taylor Swift has filed a restraining order against a stalker who has bothered her for years.

TMZ reports that Timothy Sweet has bombarded the 24-year-old singer with e-mails, letters and social media posts since January 2011.

The man believes that he and Swift are married, and that John Kerry may threaten their relationship. Among the disturbing messages:

"If anyone in Taylor Swift's family gets killed, it is not my fault." "My wife, Taylor Swift (Sweet) and I live in Beverly Hills. I am in love with her... I will carry a gun to protect her the rest of my life." "Dearest Taylor, I'll kill any man who gets in the way of our marriage. Message to John Kerry, Secretary of State. Message from YOUR Presidential Candidate."

Swift says she filed the restraining order out of concern for her safety and the safety of her family.

A judge has ordered Sweet to stay 100 yards away from the star and three of her family members.
