Ellen DeGeneres says she lost phone with famous selfie

Out of all the phones to lose, it had to be this one.

LOS ANGELES, March 4 (UPI) -- Ellen DeGeneres revealed on her talk show that she lost the cell phone that has the world's most famous selfie.

"So we're going to talk about what happened last night. I hope someone can remember where I left my cell phone. I lost that," DeGeneres told Oscar winners Cate Blanchett, Jared Leto, and Lupita Nyong'o and the pizza man who made a cameo at the Academy Awards.

Luckily, the selfie is not lost forever as the tweet which contained the selfie was retweeted over 3 million times, making it the most retweeted tweet ever and one that actually crashed Twitter.

The funny thing is that technically the picture doesn't even belong to DeGeneres. It was American Hustle star Bradley Cooper who took the picture. Unless he signs away his rights to the photograph, any use of the photograph without Cooper's permission is copyright infringement. It's probably a little too late to call that one out.
