Oscar winners John Ridley and Steve McQueen are reportedly feuding over '12 Years a Slave'

Both men won Oscar awards Sunday night, but failed to thank or acknowledge each other.

LOS ANGELES, March 3 (UPI) -- With all the Oscars' excitement over Ellen DeGeneres' record-breaking selfie and Lupita Nyong'o's touching speech, you might have missed the chilly awkwardness between 12 Years a Slave's Oscar-winner screenwriter, John Ridley, and director Steve McQueen.

Ridley walked right past McQueen when he went onstage to accept his award and never mentioned the director in his speech. You could chalk it up to forgetfulness or nerves, but the camera also happened to capture McQueen's tepid clap.

McQueen -- who was so happy he jumped when he picked up the award for Best Picture -- thanked everyone in his Oscars speech except Ridley.

Then blogger Nikki Finke came up with an explanation:

The Wrap uncovered more information, reporting Monday that Ridley refused to give McQueen partial credit for the 12 Years a Slave screenplay. Their apparent beef has grown so much, that McQueen has reportedly asked people to stop speaking to Ridley.

Hopefully, their Oscars will ease the tension.
