LOS ANGELES, March 3 (UPI) -- There are few people immune to the power of Bette Middler "Wind Beneath My Wings" for an Oscars "In Memoriam" tribute, including Julia Roberts, who reportedly cried during the performance Sunday night.
An eyewitness told Us Weekly that Roberts, Cate Blanchett and her agent were getting drinks at the lounge outside the auditorium when she saw Midler singing the iconic tearjerker on a monitor.
"This song always makes me cry, but I'm just overwhelmed with emotions this month," the 46-year-old Oscar nominee told her group.
Roberts' half-sister, Nancy Motes, died of an apparent suicide last month, prompting the actress to cancel many of her pre-Oscars appearances. The two had a volatile relationship, with Motes once describing her sister as "cruel."
