March 2 (UPI) -- Actor Matthew McConaughey said he's enjoyed receiving his first Academy Award nomination.

The 44-year-old actor has attended several Academy Award ceremonies in the past as a presenter, but Sunday's ceremony will be the first time he's faced the possibility of winning an award. He was nominated in the best actor category for his role as a homophobic AIDS sufferer in "Dallas Buyers Club."

“I’ve enjoyed the whole process from nomination to now," he told Britain's Daily Record. “This is the first time I’ve been nominated and who knows if it will happen again. Even if it does it’ll never be the same as the first time. So I’ve enjoyed every minute."

“I’ve presented a couple of Oscars, but this time I’m going to the ceremony for the first time as a nominee," he added.

The father of three is taking his wife, Brazilian model Camila Alves, and his mom, Kay, to the ceremony with him.
