LOS ANGELES, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Two big sci-fi franchises will be getting reboots in the next few years, and though Jeff Goldblum starred in them both, he'll likely only make a return to one.

"No, nobody asked me," he said, of the Jurassic Park reboot Jurassic World. "I was perfectly satisfied with the two that I did. I’m still satisfied with that and I’ll be the first in line to see anything else, so, you know."

Goldblum also sat out Jurassic Park III, and neither is Steven Spielberg directing.

But Goldblum has signed on to the brand new Independence Day, to which everyone is returning except Will Smith.

"They've talked to me about it and I've talked to them about it and they're excited and I'm anxious and eager to see -- I haven't read anything -- what they cook up," he said. "You know, I think they're trying to put it together."

Director Roland Emmerich has said the film will take place in an alternate modern-day setting, in which humanity has spent the previous 20 years harnessing the alien tech from the previous invasion.
