Kate Upton is overrated, Carol Alt says

NEW YORK, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- There are few models more in demand than Kate Upton these days, but Carol Alt, for one, isn't sure why.

Alt, who appeared on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 1982, says she's not that impressed with her successor.

"What I don't understand with Kate is, what's all the hullaballoo?" Alt said Tuesday. "There are many covers of Sports Illustrated. I like Kate. She's a pretty girl. But all the girls are nice and all the girls are pretty. And every cover, to me, deserves to be talked about."

Alt went on to say she suspects the Internet and social media word of mouth play a big role in Upton's popularity.

"I think what it is, is that in this moment there's just so much social media and that's why she's had more word of mouth than anybody," she said.
