'Girls' star Adam Driver rumored to be next 'Star Wars' villain

The character is rumored to be in the same vein as Darth Vader.

HOLLYWOOD, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Variety reports that 'Girls' star Adam Driver is set to play the villain in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, directed by J.J. Abrams.

There have been several rumors linking Driver to the film in the past. Although his current status with the movie is not officially confirmed, a source tells the magazine that the actor is close to signing on to the film right now.

Exact details about the character itself are also unknown, but the individual is rumored be in the same vein as Star Wars villain Darth Vader.

The film is set to begin shooting this April in London, and additional cast members will most likely be announced in March. Star Wars: Episode VII will open in theaters in December of 2015.
