HOLLYWOOD, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Oscar voting closes today, which means the fate of the nominees is sealed, albeit still unknown. Here is a brief look at some of this year's contenders:

Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street
Chiwetel Ejiofor in 12 Years a Slave
Matthew McConaughey in Dallas Buyer's Club

Matthew McConaughey won Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama for his role in Dallas Buyers Club at this year's Golden Globes, and is the favorite to win Best Actor at the Academy Awards.

Cate Blanchett won Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama for her role in Blue Jasmine at this year's Golden Globes. She has received numerous Oscar nominations in the past, and won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2003 for her role in The Aviator.

Jennifer Lawrence stunned in a white gown at this year's Golden Globes and walked away with Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performance in American Hustle. The 23-year-old actress has recently expressed her intent to take a year off from acting.

Alfonso Cuaron won this year's Best Director Golden Globe for Gravity. Cuaron is also well-known for directing Y Tu Mama Tambien, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and Children of Men.

The 2014 Academy Awards ceremony will take place this Sunday, March 2nd. Ellen DeGeneres will host.
