Bradley Cooper joins crime thriller 'American Blood'

He will play an New York police officer turned mob informant.

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Bradley Cooper just can't get enough of his nationality.

The 39-year-old American Hustle star has already signed on for Clint Eastwood's American Sniper and Lance Armstrong biopic Red Blooded American.

On Friday, Cooper agreed to star in and produce American Blood, a thriller based on 50 pages of a Ben Sanders crime novel that has yet to be published.

Cooper will play Marshall Grade, an former NYPD officer who becomes a mob informant. He's in the witness protection program when he's drawn into a missing-persons investigation.

Andrew Sodroski will adapt Sanders' book, which doesn't hit shelves until the fall of 2015.
