LOS ANGELES, Feb. 25 (UPI) -- Grammy-award winning art director and photographer Ian Cuttler Sala has been revealed as the unknown passenger killed in Sami Hayek's Sunday car crash.
Hayek, 40, suffered several broken ribs and a cut to his head after he lost control of his vehicle and crossed into oncoming traffic. The LAPD police report states that the ensuing collision left Sala, 43, dead on the scene after sustaining "major blunt force trauma to his body." The 20-year-old driver of the truck that the two collided with was hospitalized with a broken foot but has since been released and is recovering at home.
According to Sala's website, he spent nine years at Sony Music NY, where he created visual campaigns for artists such as Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Billy Joel and Ricky Martin. He left Sony to become a full-time photographer, and has shot for clients such as Converse, P&G, Sony BMG, and Gillette. He won a Grammy Award for best art direction in 2006 for his work on the Johnny Cash: The Legend box set music package.
