LOS ANGELES, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Casey Kasem's three adult children have filed for conservatorship of the ailing U.S. radio icon after their step-mother Jean refused to let them see him.

UsMagazine.com said the paperwork for Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare and a Healthcare Conservatorship regarding Kasem was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court Monday.

Kerri Kasem, 35, has said she has not been allowed inside her 81-year-old father's Los Angeles mansion in more than a decade and hasn't seen him at all since Jean, 59, quashed his children's weekly visits outside the home more than 90 days ago.

The former "American Top 40" host, who has advanced Parkinson's disease, also is the father of Julie, 38, and Mike, 40. The three children are from his previous marriage to Linda Myers. He and Jean have a 23-year-old daughter, Liberty.

"It's been really difficult, but I am hoping she comes out and says, you know, 'I'm sorry. Of course you can see your dad,'" Casey's daughter Kerri told UsMagazine.com before she and her siblings filed the legal documents.

"But we've heard nothing from her. Nothing. So our next step is legal action," Kerri added. "We love my father and my father loves us. We don't want his money, we don't want his estate, we don't want anything from her. All we want is to see our dad ... We just want to see our dad and to love him and take care of him before he dies."
