SAN DIEGO, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Miami Heat star LeBron James married longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson in San Diego during a ceremony attended by Beyonce and Jay-Z, People reported.

The three-day event began with a barbecue Friday, which was attended by Heat teammate Dwayne Wade and girlfriend actress Gabrielle Union, fellow NBA players Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony, and musicians Beyonce and Jay-Z, People reported Sunday.

The main event was Saturday at the Grand Del Mar resort, where hundreds of guests gathered, KFMB-TV, San Diego, reported.

The weekend ended Sunday with a farewell brunch.

James and Brinson have two sons together, 8-year-old LeBron Jr. and 5-year-old Bryce, People said. The couple have been dating since they were in high school.

Brinson told Harper's Bazaar in 2010 that she's dreamt of being a bride since she was 6 years old. She said when she married James, "I want it to be forever."

"A person like myself always needs a great sidekick and a person you can rely on no matter the circumstances. And she's that," James said of Brinson. "She's got my back and I love her for that."
