LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Rapper Kanye West was charged with misdemeanor battery and attempted grand theft for a fight with a photographer, the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office said.

The charges came Friday after prosecutors decided not to charge West with a felony for the incident July 19 at Los Angeles International Airport, NBC News reported.

A video from TMZ shows the rapper exiting the airport and walking toward a waiting car. West appears to grab photographer Daniel Ramos and push him to the ground.

Ramos said his right hip was injured in the incident.

"I told him twice, 'I don't want to fight you,' " Ramos said at an August news conference. "However, he attacked me anyway."

Should he be found guilty of both misdemeanor charges, West faces up to one year in prison, TMZ reported.
