Paula Deen fired from Food Network despite apology video

Paula Deen has been fired from her job as a host on the Food Network.

Officials at the channel said they would not renew her contract, which is set to end next month.

The news came just after Deen released an apology video on her YouTube channel in response to a report on her workplace discrimination lawsuit, where Deen is quoted confirming her use of the N-word and telling racial jokes.

Earlier today, Food Network star Paula Deen cancelled her appearance on the "Today" show after a barrage of criticism on all of her social media pages.

She released a first video three hours later, published briefly to an unofficial YouTube account then later removed. That video was replaced with a longer version, which tearfully explains what prompted the clip.

Deen, 66, and brother Bubba Hiers were sued by former employee Lisa Jackson, who alleged sexual harassment and a hostile work environment at their restaurant, Uncle Bubba's Seafood and Oyster House.

“I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way, but I beg you, my children, my team, my fans, my partners -- I beg for your forgiveness. Please forgive me for the mistakes that I’ve made,” Deen said.

Deen's apology was not good enough for the Food Network, but she is still trying to save her image among her fans.

"I want people to understand that my family andI are not the kind of people that the press is trying to say we are," Deen continued.
