NEW YORK, May 7 (UPI) -- Claire Danes, Kim Kardashian and Michelle Williams were among the stars who attended the glitzy Costume Institute gala at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Also attending Monday night's event were Beyonce, Jennifer Lawrence, Sarah Jessica Parker, Dakota Fanning, Anne Hathaway, Kirsten Dunst, Nicole Richie and Nina Dobrev.

The evening kicked off the museum's "PUNK: Chaos to Couture" exhibition, which will run from Thursday through Aug. 14.
