Adam Johnson's novel 'Orphan Master's Son' wins Pulitzer for Fiction

NEW YORK, April 15 (UPI) -- Columbia University awarded Adam Johnson the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in New York Monday for his North Korea-set novel "The Orphan Master's Son."

EW.com said the book follows character Pak Jun Do from his childhood in a state orphanage through his adventures and struggles amid rising tensions between North Korea and the United States.

The 45-year-old, South Dakota-born author previously penned the story collection "Emporium" and novel "Parasites Like Us."
