'Hands on a Hardbody' set to close on Broadway Saturday

NEW YORK, April 9 (UPI) -- The Broadway musical "Hands on a Hardbody" is to close Saturday after 28 previews and 28 regular performances, producers announced.

Starring Keith Carradine, Hunter Foster, Connie Ray and a bright red Nissan pickup, the show is about a group of Texans competing to win a new truck by seeing who can keep their hands on the vehicle for the longest.

Every contestant sees driving away in the truck as a means of starting a new life in the musical, which has a score by Amanda Green and Phish front-man Trey Anastasio. Pulitzer Prize winner Doug Wright wrote the show's book.

Playbill.com said the musical is closing due to poor ticket sales, despite its mixed-to-positive reviews from critics.
