Celebrated Playmate Christa Speck dies

LOS ANGELES, March 31 (UPI) -- Former Playboy Playmate of the Year Christa Speck has died at her home in Los Angeles, The Hollywood Reporter said. She was 70.

Speck died of natural causes March 22, the reports said.

A native of Germany, she was one of the most well-known Playboy Playmates of her time, The Hollywood Reported said. She was discovered by Playboy while she was working as a bank secretary, and went on to be named Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month in September 1961 and Playmate of the Year in 1962.

Speck was featured in the magazine numerous times in the 1960s.

She married television producer Marty Krofft in September 1965. She is survived by Krofft and the couple's daughters Deanna, Kristina and Kendra.
