Singer Bobby Brown released from jail after 9 hours
LOS ANGELES, March 21 (UPI) -- Singer Bobby Brown was released from a Los Angeles jail nine hours after he began serving his 55-day sentence for driving under the influence, TMZ said.
Brown, 44, left the jail Wednesday at 6:58 p.m. after checking in that morning, the celebrity news website said. Overcrowding in the building was the reason for his early departure, TMZ said.
The singer pleaded no contest in February to charges he was driving drunk with a suspended license when arrested last October. He has been placed on probation for four years and will be under court order to attend three AA meetings a week and go through an 18-month alcohol-treatment program. He also will be required to have an alcohol interlock device installed on his car.
TMZ said this is Brown's third driving DUI conviction.
Brown, who has a history of substance abuse, was the ex-husband of the late pop star Whitney Houston, who drowned in a hotel bathtub in February 2012 after drinking and using drugs.
Report: 'Tonight' show moving back to NYC with Fallon to host
No formal announcement about the changing-of-the-guard has been made, but the report said the network has committed to making Fallon, 38, the successor to Leno, 62, on "Tonight" and plans to put its plan in motion soon.
The Times quoted a senior network executive, who did not wish to be named, as saying of the Fallon-Leno switch and "Tonight" move to New York, "There is no way on earth that this is not going to happen."
NBC has even begun work on a new "Tonight Show" studio in its headquarters building at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan, the newspaper said.
NBC previously booted Leno as host of "Tonight" at the end of the 2008-09 season, despite high ratings, and gave the position to "Late Night" host Conan O'Brien to keep O'Brien from moving to another network and courting younger viewers in the same time slot.
NBC then offered Leno a nightly, hourlong, 10 p.m. series, which kicked off in September 2009.
But when the prime time "Jay Leno Show" failed to be a strong lead-in for local news broadcasts, NBC announced it would push Leno's show back to 11:35 p.m., shorten it to 30 minutes and air "Tonight" at 12:05 a.m. However, O'Brien said he would not remain on "Tonight" if it was bumped to 12:05 a.m. and left the network, paving the way for Leno's return as "Tonight" host in the traditional 11:35 p.m. time slot in March 2010.
O'Brien now heads up his own chat show "Conan" on TBS.
'Family Guy' creator Seth MacFarlane and 'Game of Thrones' star Emilia Clarke break up
NEW YORK, March 21 (UPI) -- Seth MacFarlane and Emilia Clarke have ended their long-distance romance after less than a year, a source close to the former Hollywood couple told E! News.
"They are no longer dating," the insider said. "It was really a location challenge. She has been in Europe shooting 'Game of Thrones' and he is based in California, so it was hard to make it work despite the distance. They have remained friends."
MacFarlane, 39, is the creator of "Family Guy," as well as a film writer and director.
Clarke, 25, can now be seen on Broadway in "Breakfast at Tiffany's."
LONDON, March 21 (UPI) -- U.S. hip-hop star Kanye West is considering North as a name to give the baby he is expecting with reality TV star Kim Kardashian, The Sun reported.
The couple is expecting their first child in July. The baby's gender has not been disclosed.
West has been telling friends he likes the way North sounds with his surname and he has ranked it high on his list of possible baby names, The Sun said.
The name would be a surprise move since Kardashian's mom's name is Kris and she has given all her children names that begin with K.
