New York's Drama League to honor Bernadette Peters

NEW YORK, March 21 (UPI) -- The Drama League says it will honor actress Bernadette Peters at the 79th annual Drama League Awards luncheon in New York this spring.

The ceremony is to take place May 17 at the Marriott Marquis Times Square in Manhattan.

Peters is to be presented with the Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theatre Award.

Also to be recognized at the event are Madison Square Garden Entertainment & the Rockettes, which will receive the Unique Contribution to the Theatre Award for the continuing efforts in promoting live theater, and director Jerry Mitchell, who will receive The Founders Award for Excellence in Directing.

he 2013 Drama League nominees for Distinguished Play, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Best Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Musical and Distinguished Performance Award are to be announced April 23.
