LONDON, March 9 (UPI) -- Canadian pop star Justin Bieber was recorded cursing at and threatening to beat up a paparazzo waiting for him outside his London hotel.
The Los Angeles Times said the 19-year-old singer bumped into the unidentified photographer as he was leaving the hotel, prompting the photo-snapper to yell, "That's assault" -- and then unleashing a string of profane insults at Bieber as he was getting in his car.
The entertainer then turned back from his vehicle and threatened to beat up the offending photographer before members of Bieber's entourage dragged him back to his car, the Times said.
"Ahhhhh! Rough morning. Trying to feel better for this show tonight but let the paps get the best of me... ," Bieber tweeted Friday morning. "Sometimes when people r shoving cameras in your face all day and yelling the worst thing possible at u...well I'm human. Rough week. Not gonna let them get the best of me again. Gonna get focused on this show tonight. Adrenaline is high now. Gonna put it on the stage. Only way someone can break u is if u let them."
Bieber was briefly hospitalized Thursday night after he collapsed with breathing problems offstage at his concert at London's O2 Arena. He played his last of four shows at the venue Friday night.
Friend to be Vergara surrogate
NEW YORK, March 9 (UPI) -- Actress Sofia Vergara and her fiance, Nick Loeb, have asked a close friend to act as a surrogate and carry their baby, the New York Post reported.
"The child will be biologically Sofia and Nick's baby, and she has selected a surrogate -- who is a very close girlfriend -- to carry the baby," an insider told the newspaper.
"A procedure has taken place, and Sofia and Nick will find out in a few weeks if it was successful, if the surrogate is pregnant, and if they will become parents," the source said. "A baby is something they've both wanted for a while, particularly Nick, who has been pushing for it. He is a little uneasy that the surrogate is Sofia's close friend, but is very excited about becoming a father."
Vergara, 40, is one of the stars of the TV sitcom "Modern Family." She has a 21-year-old son, Manolo, from a previous relationship.
The actress has been dating businessman Loeb for about three years. They have confirmed they are engaged to be married, but have not disclosed a wedding date yet.

Rylance to star in 'Wolf Hall' miniseries
LONDON, March 9 (UPI) -- British actor Mark Rylance is to play Thomas Cromwell in a miniseries based on Hilary Mantel's novels "Wolf Hall" and "Bring Up the Bodies," the BBC said.
Cromwell was chief minister to King Henry VIII of England from 1532 to 1540.
Rylance, the former artistic director of Shakespeare's Globe in London, is currently rehearsing for the lead role in a new play, "Nice Fish," at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis. He is to return to London in September to direct Vanessa Redgrave and James Earl Jones in "Much Ado About Nothing" at the Old Vic, the BBC said.
"Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" co-writer Peter Straughan is adapting Mantel's books for a six-part series to run on BBC Two.
No start date for filming has been announced.
The BBC said Mantel will serve as a consultant on the program as she also pens the third installment in her trilogy of historical novels.
