ALVIN LEE: British guitarist Alvin Lee, co-founder of the rock band Ten Years After, died unexpectedly of post-surgery complications Wednesday, his family said. He was 68.

The family said in a post on Lee's website he had undergone routine surgery but did not say what the operation was for, the BBC reported.

"We have lost a wonderful and much loved father and companion, the world has lost a truly great and gifted musician," his wife and daughters said in a statement.

The network noted Lee, born in Nottingham, England, had earned acclaim for his guitar solos at the seminal Woodstock rock festival in New York state in 1969.

Ten Years After recorded eight albums that reached the Top 40 in the United Kingdom. The band's biggest hit, "I'd Love To Change the World," came in 1971.

The BBC said Lee released his 14th record, "Still on the Road to Freedom," last August.

He was to have played a concert at Olympia Hall in Paris Thursday with blues guitarist Johnny Winter.

HOWARD STERN: NBC is talking with Howard Stern about taking over "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" if Fallon takes over "The Tonight Show," the New York Post reported.

Citing sources close to Stern, the newspaper said the shock jock is "being groomed" to replace Fallon, who is reported to be in line to replace Jay Leno on "Tonight" when Leno's contract expires in 2014.

Stern has his own satellite radio show and is a judge on "America's Got Talent."

His agent, Don Buchwald, declined to comment in the report, as did NBC's late night programming chief Doug Vaughan, the Post said Wednesday.

CARRIE FISHER: Actress Carrie Fisher has confirmed to Florida's Palm Beach Illustrated she will appear in the upcoming seventh "Star Wars" picture.

Fisher, 56, played the iconic role of Princess Leia in three "Star Wars" movies in the 1970s and '80s.

Asked by the magazine if she could "confirm whether you'll reprise the role of Princess Leia" in the seventh installment, Fisher said only, "Yes."

Pressed to describe what she thinks Leia is like now, Fisher replied with a laugh: "Elderly. She's in an intergalactic old folks' home. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle."

Mark Hamill -- who played Leia's twin brother Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars" Episodes IV, V and VI -- said last month he, Fisher and their co-star Harrison Ford are in talks to reprise their roles in the sequel to the space-opera blockbusters.

J.J. Abrams is to direct "Star Wars: Episode VII," which is set for release in 2015.

'WHAT NOT TO WEAR:' The U.S. fashion reality show "What Not to Wear" is to end its 10-season run on TLC this summer, its hosts Clinton Kelly and Stacy London confirmed Wednesday.

"I'm proud of the work we've done and the lives we've changed," Kelly told People.com. "And I'm relieved I don't have to point out that dark-wash jeans look dressier than light-wash jeans every day of my freakin' life."

"I'm excited about our final episodes. ... We are getting to do things we've never had the opportunity to do before, and there are many surprises in store," London said. "I do love that we are going out with a bang."
