Sheriff: McCready wasn't suspect in beau's death

HEBER SPRINGS, Ark., Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Singer Mindy McCready was never a suspect in her fiance David Wilson's January gunshot death, authorities in Arkansas say.

McCready, who had long battled addictions to drugs and alcohol, shot herself to death Sunday, just weeks after her live-in partner was found dead of a gunshot wound in their Heber Springs home.

While authorities immediately classified the faded country music star's death at age 37 a suicide, they have said Wilson's death remains under investigation and the cause as-yet-undetermined.

McCready had denied any involvement in Wilson's dying before she took her own life.

Cleburne County Sheriff Marty Moss told TMZ Tuesday McCready was never considered a suspect and was consistent in her accounts of what happened the day Wilson died.

"Mindy never changed her story," Ross told the celebrity news website.

Robin Roberts returns to 'GMA' after months of sick leave

NEW YORK, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Robin Roberts returned to the anchor chair at ABC's "Good Morning America" Wednesday, five months after undergoing a bone-marrow transplant.

Roberts, a 52-year-old breast cancer survivor, had the bone-marrow transplant to treat myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare blood disorder.

"I keep pinching myself and I realize that this is real. This is really happening," said Roberts, who looked beautiful wearing an aqua-colored dress and sporting close-cropped dark hair Wednesday.

"Faith, family and friends have brought me to this moment and I am so full of gratitude," she said. "There's so many people that I want to thank throughout the morning, my doctors and nurses and family and colleagues and people who have sat in this chair and those who have blazed the trail before me. As my mother said, 'We all have something.' Everyone's story has purpose and meaning and value and I share this morning, this day of celebration with everyone."

Roberts' return to the show was announced Feb. 6 after tests showed no signs of abnormalities and she received the all-clear from her doctors, ABC News said. The veteran broadcast journalist then did a series of dry runs at the "GMA" studio in New York, which went well.

Shia LaBeouf departs Broadway's 'Orphans' due to 'creative differences'

NEW YORK, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Film star Shia LaBeouf will not star as planned in the Broadway production of "Orphans," which is to begin previews in less than a month, producers said.

"Due to creative differences, the producers of 'Orphans' and Shia LaBeouf will be parting ways and he will not be continuing with the production.

An announcement on the replacement for the role of Treat will be made shortly," the show's producers said in a statement Wednesday.

Written by Lyle Kessler and directed by Daniel Sullivan, the play will continue with stars Alec Baldwin and Tom Sturridge.

Production dates remain unchanged thus far, with previews to begin March 19. Opening night is set for April 7 at the Schoenfeld Theatre.

LaBeouf is best known for his work in the "Transformers" film franchise.
