NEW YORK, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Film star Shia LaBeouf will not star as planned in the Broadway production of "Orphans," which is to begin previews in less than a month, producers said.

"Due to creative differences, the producers of 'Orphans' and Shia LaBeouf will be parting ways and he will not be continuing with the production. An announcement on the replacement for the role of Treat will be made shortly," the show's producers said in a statement Wednesday.

Written by Lyle Kessler and directed by Daniel Sullivan, the play will continue with stars Alec Baldwin and Tom Sturridge.

Production dates remain unchanged thus far, with previews to begin March 19. Opening night is set for April 7 at the Schoenfeld Theatre.

LaBeouf is best known for his work in the "Transformers" film franchise.
