'Coronation Street' star charged with rape

MANCHESTER, England, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Michael Le Vell, a star of the long-running British soap opera "Coronation Street," was charged Thursday with sexually assaulting a child.

Le Vell of Hale in Cheshire is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 27, the Manchester Evening News reported.

He was charged under his legal name, Michael Turner.

"Michael Turner has been charged with 19 offenses including raping a child, indecently assaulting a child and sexual activity with a child," a spokesman for the Greater Manchester Police said.

Le Vell, 48, a native of Manchester, joined the cast of "Coronation Street" as a teenager in 1981, playing Kevin Webster. Viewers have watched him go from being an apprentice to a garage owner and followed his on-screen marital difficulties.

Charges were originally brought in 2011 and dropped for lack of evidence. Police Thursday asked Le Vell to report to a Manchester-area police station where he was charged and then released on bail.

Le Vell and his off-screen wife split up after his 2011 arrest, The Sun reported.

"Coronation Street," produced by Granada TV, has been on the air since 1960, making it the longest-running British soap. It focuses on life in a Manchester neighborhood.

LeAnn Rimes sues dentist for alleged shoddy work

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- U.S. country music star LeAnn Rimes is suing Dr. Duane C. McKay for unspecified damages, alleging the dentist put substandard veneers and crowns on her teeth.

The singer's lawsuit said McKay's treatment led to "severe tooth pain, gum inflammation and chronic gum bleeding," E! News said.

Rimes said she had to subsequently undergo nine root canals, bone grafting, physical therapy and installation of a temporary bridge as a result of his treatment. She said she suffered a "permanent cosmetic deficiency" and her "ability to perform as an artist has been and will continue to be significantly compromised until all re-treatment is completed," E! quoted the lawsuit as saying.

McKay has not publicly responded to the complaint.

Fox News' Megyn Kelly pregnant with third child

NEW YORK, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly announced on "America Live" she is pregnant with her third child.

Kelly, 42, did not reveal the new baby's gender or anticipated due date.

Asked on the air Thursday what she was getting her husband, Doug Brunt, for Valentine's Day, Kelly said they usually have trouble getting each other the ideal gifts but this year "found the perfect solution."

"Happily, Doug and I are expecting another baby," The Huffington Post quoted Kelly as saying.

Kelly married Brunt in 2008. They have a daughter, Yardley, and son, Yates.

Harrison Ford to play Han Solo again in new 'Star Wars' flick

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Hollywood screen icon Harrison Ford is to reprise his role of intergalactic smuggler Han Solo in an upcoming "Star Wars" sequel, Latino Review reported Friday.

Ford, 70, played the handsome, wisecracking hero in "Star Wars: A New Hope," "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi."

Hollywood's Walt Disney Co. recently confirmed it is working on several standalone "Star Wars" movies, as well as three sequels to the established six-movie saga.

However, no plot lines or release dates for the spinoff flicks have been officially announced.

The first sequel is set for release in 2015.
