'Mama' is No. 1 in weekend box office

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- The supernatural thriller "Mama" was No. 1 at the box office this weekend with $28.1 million.

The horror film stars Jessica Chastain, who is also the star of "Zero Dark Thirty," which came in at No. 2 with $17.6 million.

"Silver Linings Playbook" came in third with $11.4 million.

"Gangster Squad," starring Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin, came in fourth with $9.1 million. "Broken City," was fifth with $9 million.

"A Haunted House," was No. 6 with $8.3 million; "Django Unchained," No. 7 with $8.2 million; "Les Miserables" was No. 8 with $7.8 million; "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" No. 9 with $6.4 million.

"The Last Stand," starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Johnny Knoxville, took the No. 10 spot with $6.3 million.
