NEW YORK, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- Actor Bobby Cannavale is to star in a new Broadway production of Clifford Odets' "The Big Knife," the Roundabout Theatre Company said Wednesday.

The two-time Tony Award nominee can currently be seen in the limited-engagement Broadway revival of "Glengarry Glen Ross." He also appears in the TV shows "Nurse Jackie" and "Boardwalk Empire."

Directed by Doug Hughes, "The Big Knife" will begin previews March 22. Opening night is set for April 16 at the American Airlines Theatre.

The full cast and design team will be announced soon, Roundabout Theatre said in a release.

"In the golden age of Hollywood cinema, actors may have all the glory, but studio execs have all the power. The Hoff-Federated studio has had its most successful star, Charlie Castle, over a barrel ever since it helped cover up a mistake that could have ended his career. When a woman with insider knowledge threatens to come forward, the studio heads will stop at nothing to protect Charlie's secret ... but how far is he willing to go before he quits the movie business for good?" a synopsis said.

This is the first new Broadway production of "The Big Knife" since it premiered on the Great White Way in 1949.
