Dec. 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM

NEW YORK, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- The new musical "Chaplin" will play its final performance on Broadway at the Barrymore Theatre Jan. 6, producers announced Monday.

The show about film icon Charlie Chaplin features music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis and was directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle.

It will have played 24 previews and 136 regular performances by the time it wraps. Rob McClure plays the title role in the musical.

"We are so disappointed to close this show," Mindy Rich said in a statement on behalf of the producers. "We've been moved by the countless theatergoers who have loved 'Chaplin' as much as we do. We are so proud of our extraordinary cast and creative team, and 'Chaplin' will live on through productions on our national tour in 2014 and around the world."

No reason was given for the closing.
