BROOKE BURKE-CHARVET: U.S. television personality Brooke Burke-Charvet announced Thursday she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

Burke-Charvet, 41, is co-host of "Dancing with the Stars" and is the mother of four children.

"I need to have thyroid surgery and a thyroidectomy, which means I'm going to have a nice, big scar right here across my neck," she said on ModernMom's YouTube channel.

"I'm just going to make a positive out of this negative thing," she said. "I'm going to be a really good patient, and I'm going to do everything that I need to do. I've booked my surgery. ... I'm good. I'm ready to deal with it, and I'm going to be fine. I feel really, really strong. Doctors say this is a 'good' kind of cancer to have. ... My doctor did tell me this is a 'happily ever after' ending kind of thing."

LADY GAGA: Pop star Lady Gaga says she is donating $1 million to the American Red Cross to help victims of Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey.

"If it wasn't for NYC: the Lower Eastside, Harlem, the Bronx and Brooklyn, I would not be the woman or artist that I am today," the singer said in a message on her website Wednesday.

"New York is relentless ambition, a drive to succeed, a place where there is a natural pursuit of diversity through compassion," the message said. "Please accept this gift on behalf of myself, my parents Joe and Cynthia, and my sister Natali; with our deepest gratitude New York for raising us. Thank you for helping me build my spirit. I will now help you rebuild yours."

BRYAN ADAMS: Bryan Adams' publicist says the Canadian-born rocker's girlfriend is pregnant with their second child.

"There's another baby on the way for singer Bryan Adams and Alicia Grimaldi," Adams' representative told People.com Thursday. "Their daughter, Bunny Grimaldi-Adams, is now 18 months old, and the new baby is due next year."

Grimaldi is the co-founder of Adams' charitable foundation.

MARK WAHLBERG: Hollywood director Michael Bay announced Thursday he has cast Mark Wahlberg in "Transformers 4," which is set for a 2014 theatrical release.

Bay and Wahlberg previously worked together on "Pain and Gain," which hits theaters this April.

"Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on 'Pain and Gain' and I'm so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers' legacy," Bay said in a statement on his website.

Bay will direct the next installment in the "Transformers" series, which will begin shooting next spring.

The filmmaker did not say what part Wahlberg will play or which other actors might co-star alongside him.
