NEW YORK, Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Lincoln Center Theater's 75th anniversary production of Clifford Odets' stage drama "Golden Boy" began previews on Broadway Friday.

Directed by Bartlett Sher and starring Seth Numrich, Tony Shalhoub and Danny Burstein, the play is being performed at the Belasco Theatre, the same house where it premiered in 1937. The revival's official opening night is Dec. 6.

In the play, Numrich portrays Joe Bonaparte, a gifted young violinist torn between pursuing a career in music and getting rich as a prize fighter.

Shalhoub plays Joe's father and Burstein his trainer.
