Sandy darkens NYC's Great White Way

NEW YORK, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Performances of all Broadway shows for Sunday and Monday were canceled in anticipation of the arrival of Hurricane Sandy, producers said.

"The safety and security of theater-goers and employees is everyone's primary concern," Charlotte St. Martin, executive director of The Broadway League, said in a statement Sunday.

"As a result of the suspension of public transportation by government authorities in preparation for Hurricane Sandy, evening performances will be canceled tonight, Sunday, Oct. 28, and Monday evening, Oct. 29."

The Hollywood Reporter said many of New York's movie theaters were also shutting their doors through Tuesday.

The storm is expected to hit the mid-Atlantic Monday or early Tuesday.


Levi Johnston marries Sunny Oglesby

WASILLA, Alaska, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Levi Johnston, the ex-fiance of reality TV personality Bristol Palin, has married Sunny Oglesby, the mother of his second child, in Alaska, TMZ reported.

Oglesby gave birth to daughter Breeze Beretta Johnston last month.

Johnston, 22, also has a 3-year-old son, Tripp, with 22-year-old former "Dancing with the Stars" contender Palin, the daughter of 2008 Republican vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin.

Johnston and Palin broke up in 2009, briefly reconciled in 2010, then permanently ended their relationship a short time later.

TMZ said Johnston and Oglesby were wed Sunday at a ceremony attended by more than 100 friends and family members, but Tripp was not among the guests.

No other details were immediately available.

Bristol Palin wrote a book about being a single teen mom after she and Johnston broke up. She also starred in a reality TV show with Tripp and she appeared on the family drama series "The Secret Life of the American Teenager."

Johnston posed for Playgirl magazine.


Madonna booed after endorsing Obama

NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- The crowd at Madonna's weekend concert in New Orleans jeered the pop star as she urged audience members to re-elect President Barack Obama, E! News said.

"Who's registered to vote?" she asked concertgoers during Saturday night's show. "I don't care who you vote for as long as you vote for Obama."

The remark prompted boos from her fans to which she responded: "Seriously, I don't care who you vote for. ... Do not take this privilege for granted. Go vote."


ABC plans 'Extreme Makeover' specials

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- America's ABC television network says it will air four holiday-themed "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" specials, starting next month.

Author and television personality Jenny McCarthy will be the guest host of the Thanksgiving episode to premiere Nov. 26.

The remaining three episodes will air on the following three Mondays -- Dec. 3, Dec. 10 and Dec. 17. Do-It-Yourself guru Ty Pennington is to serve as host of those programs.

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," a show in which Pennington headed up projects to help deserving families improve their housing, aired on ABC from 2002 to 2007.
