Poet Antonio Cisneros dead at 69

LIMA, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Peruvian poet Antonio Cisneros died in Lima after a battle with lung cancer, his family said. He was 69.

The Andina news agency confirmed his Saturday death.

Cisneros studied literature at the National University of San Marcos and later earned a doctorate from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.

He was a winner of the Casa de las Americas Prize, Jose Donoso Prize and Pablo Neruda Poetry Prize, Andina said.
