The latest news on today's hottest celebrities ...

FIONA APPLE: Recording artist Fiona Apple was arrested for possession of hash and marijuana at a border stop in Sierra Blanca, Texas, TMZ reported Thursday.

Apple, 35, was arrested Wednesday and taken to the Hudspeth County Jail after authorities stopped her tour bus and allegedly found drugs inside.

TMZ noted Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg and Armie Hammer were previously arrested for drug possession in the same town.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON: Scarlett Johansson, Ciaran Hinds, Benjamin Walker and Debra Monk are to headline a Broadway revival of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," producers said Thursday.

The new production of playwright Tennessee Williams' stage drama will be directed by Rob Ashford. The show will begin preview performances Dec. 18 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Opening night is set for Jan. 17.

"Big Daddy Pollitt, the richest cotton planter in the Mississippi Delta, is about to celebrate his 65th birthday. He is distressed by the rocky relationship between his beloved son Brick, an aging football hero who has turned to drink, and his beautiful and feisty wife Maggie," a synopsis said. "As the hot summer evening unfolds, the veneer of Southern gentility slips away as unpleasant truths emerge and greed, lies and suppressed sexuality reach a boiling point."

Additional casting and the design team will be announced soon, the producers said.

LEONARDO DiCAPRIO: Director Baz Luhrmann's film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel "The Great Gatsby" is to open May 10, 2013, Warner Bros. announced Thursday.

The 3D movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan was initially slated to hit theaters Dec. 25.

"Audiences have been looking forward to Baz Luhrmann's film adaptation of one of the most beloved books of all time, and we felt this beautifully extravagant and dramatic film would be a perfect way for us to kick off our summer slate," Dan Fellman, the studio's president of domestic distribution, said in a statement.

Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, president of international distribution for Warner Bros. Pictures, said: "Baz's unique take on 'Gatsby' is glitzy and glamorous, with his juxtaposition of the classic tale and contemporary themes hitting just the right note. This film should really add heat to the competitive summer season."

BEN VEREEN: Broadway icon Ben Vereen has filed for divorce from Nancy Bruner, his wife of 36 years, documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court show.

The actor cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and requested he not be made to pay spousal support, TMZ reported Thursday.

The couple married in 1976 and officially separated in March, the celebrity news website said.
