NORFOLK, Va., Aug. 5 (UPI) -- U.S. Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas' mother filed for bankruptcy months before the Olympian won gold in London, bankruptcy documents show.

Natalie Hawkins filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in Virginia, with assets totaling $163,706.10 and debt totaling $79,754.14, TMZ reported.

The Olympian's mother owes Capital One $1,534, Sprint $158, T-Mobile $413, an Iowa orthodontist $408 and $4,350 in student loan debt, the documents said.

Hawkins agreed to paying a monthly fee of $408 to a trustee who will divide it among her creditors, the documents said.
