Katherine Jackson safe with family
LOS ANGELES, July 23 (UPI) -- Katherine Jackson, whose nephew reported her missing last week, is safe and staying with family, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department told E! News.
Jackson, 82, has been raising the three young children of her son, pop music icon Michael Jackson, who died in 2009.
A man identified as her nephew Trent reported her missing, saying she had not been heard from in a week. Michael's 14-year-old daughter Paris echoed the claim in a Twitter posting.
The L.A. Sheriff's Department told E! News investigators know Katherine is safe with members of her family, but are still talking to relatives to see why there are differing accounts regarding her whereabouts.
"Let me put to bed today's nonsense: as I made clear some days ago, Mother is safe and well in Arizona with her daughter and our sister, Rebbie, resting up on doctor's advice, so it is beyond me how she can be reported 'missing,'" Jermaine Jackson, Katherine's son, said during the weekend on Twitter.
"This incredulous claim was made for reasons best known to the adult/s who filed it but it seems no accident that it comes after we, the sons and daughters, put in place care-taking for our own mother, taking her to Arizona in line with doctor's advice following a check-up. Furthermore, it dismays me that such an alarmist 'missing person' report has caused unnecessary anxiety among Michael's children who will understandably react to what they misunderstand, hear or are told.
"No-one is being 'blocked' from speaking with Mother. She is merely an 82-year-old woman following doctor's orders to rest-up and de-stress, away from phones and computers. Everyone has been well aware of this within the family, but I would like to reiterate my reassurance to the outside world that Mother is fine. In the meantime, thank you for all your thoughts and concerns."
'Hunger Games,' 'Pretty Little Liars' clean up at Teen Choice Awards
LOS ANGELES, July 23 (UPI) -- "The Hunger Games" collected a raft of prizes, including Best Sci-Fi Fantasy Movie, at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles.
Stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson also won Best Actress and Actor in a Sci-Fi Movie and shared the Best Movie Liplock honor.
Lawrence and Amandla Stenberg won the award for Best Movie Chemistry. The Best Movie Villain title went to Alexander Ludwig and the Best Movie Scene Stealer was presented to Liam Hemsworth.
"Abduction" was named Best Action Movie and its star, Taylor Lautner, Best Actor in an Action Movie, while "The Lucky One" was declared Best Drama Movie and its leading man, Zac Efron, won for Best Actor in a Drama and Best Actor in a Romance.
Emma Stone picked up twin prizes for Best Actress in a Drama and a Comedy for "The Help" and "Crazy Stupid Love" respectively.
Zoe Saldana earned the award for Best Actress in an Action Movie for "Colombiana" and Kristen Stewart the prize for Best Actress in a Romance Movie for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn -- Part 1." "Breaking Dawn" co-star Ashley Greene won in the Best Movie Scene Stealer category.
"21 Jump Street" won for Best Comedy Movie and Channing Tatum was named Best Actor in a Comedy.
"Snow White & The Huntsman" won the awards for Best Movie Hissy Fit for Charlize Theron, Best Summer Movie Star for Chris Hemsworth and Best Summer Movie Star for Stewart.
"Pretty Little Liars" won the awards for Best TV Drama, Best TV Drama Actor Ian Harding and Best TV Drama Actress Lucy Hale. Co-star Troian Bellisario was recognized as Best Summer TV Actress and Janel Parrish as Best TV Villain.
"The Vampire Diaries" won for Best Fantasy/Sci-Fi TV series. Show stars Ian Somerhalder Nina Dobrev won the awards for Best Actor and Actress in a Fantasy/Sci-Fi series. Cast members Candice Accola and Michael Trevino snagged the honors for Best TV Female and Male Scene Stealer.
"CSI: Miami" earned the title Best Action TV show and star Adam Rodriguez Best Actor in an Action TV series.
Linda Hunt of "NCIS: Los Angeles" won Best Actress in an Action show.
"Glee" earned the Best TV Comedy nod, while its leads, Chris Colfer and Lea Michele, won Best TV Actor and Actress in a Comedy.
Missing actor Nick Stahl resurfaces
LOS ANGELES, July 23 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Nick Stahl, who is battling an addiction to drugs, has reconciled with his family and is in treatment, TMZ reported.
Stahl's wife Rose told police in Los Angeles the "In the Bedroom," "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" and "Sin City" star had gone missing twice since May.
But TMZ said the 32-year-old actor is now "in a good place," working to stay sober and in constant communication with his family, although he has not moved back home with his wife and their pre-school-age daughter.
Rose Stahl posted on Twitter a photo of herself smiling alongside the actor Sunday.
Maynard gets engaged on 'Bachelorette'
LOS ANGELES, July 23 (UPI) -- Emily Maynard has accepted Jef Holm's marriage proposal on the U.S. dating competition show "The Bachelorette."
Holm proposed in Sunday night's episode after Maynard told his fellow finalist Arie Luyendyk, a 30-year-old race-car driver, he wasn't the one for her, UsMagazine.com reported.
Maynard, 26, said she chose Holm, the 28-year-old chief executive officer of a bottled water company, because she was in love with him and thought he would make a good stepfather to her 7-year-old daughter Ricki, whose father died before she was born.
Once he heard Maynard wanted to be with him, UsMagazine.com said, Holm got down on one knee and said: "What I'm about to ask you aren't just empty words [for] a few months, a few years, a few decades. It's a forever thing."
After he asked her to be his wife, Maynard replied, "Yes!"
