NEW YORK, June 8 (UPI) -- "Potted Potter," a British stage comedy in which two actors attempt to sum up all seven Harry Potter books in 70 minutes, has opened off-Broadway.

Preview performances of the show began last month at Manhattan's Little Shubert Theater. It officially opened June 3. This is the production's U.S. premiere after successful runs in Toronto, London, Edinburgh, Australia and New Zealand.

Starring two-time Olivier Award-nominated actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner, the limited engagement in New York is to play through Aug. 12.

In the show, Clarkson and Turner use sparse sets and silly props, as well as the imaginations and good will of audience members, to enthusiastically conjure up the magic of the popular book and film franchises about a boy wizard named Harry.

"We are delighted to introduce this brilliant, hilarious show to American audiences," Corey Ross, president of producers Starvox Entertainment, said in a statement. "'Potted Potter' is a wonderfully entertaining time for both fans and neophytes of the Harry Potter phenomenon alike."
