WASHINGTON, June 8 (UPI) -- Tom Magliozzi and Ray Magliozzi say they are wrapping up their 25-year run as hosts of the U.S. radio show "Car Talk" on NPR.

The radio personalities -- who were known as Click and Clack, and delivered automotive advice mixed with comedy -- made the announcement Friday.

"With 'Car Talk' celebrating its 25th anniversary on NPR this fall -- its 35th year overall, including our local years at WBUR -- " Tom said.

"… and my brother turning over the birthday odometer to 75, we've decided that it's time to stop and smell the cappuccino," Ray said.

"So as of October, we're not going to be recording any more new shows," Tom said. "That's right, we're retiring."

The brothers said NPR will continue airing repackaged versions of "Car Talk" featuring the best material from their archives.
