Robert Wagner's daughter faces charges

MALIBU, Calif., April 30 (UPI) -- Courtney Wagner, the 38-year-old daughter of actor Robert Wagner, was arrested in California on drug-possession charges, TMZ reported.

Law-enforcement sources told the celebrity news Web site Wagner was arrested April 22 on cocaine and heroin possession charges after police were called to her home to investigate a complaint of a loud fight involving a gunshot.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

TMZ said Monday an unidentified male was arrested at the scene for negligent discharge of a firearm.

Wagner posted $10,000 bail but it was unclear if the other person is still in custody, the Web site said.

Courtney Wagner's mother, Natalie Wood, a star in "Miracle on 34th Street," "West Side Story," "Splendor in the Grass," "Gypsy" and other movies, died in November 1981. Her death was ruled an accidental drowning.

Robert Wagner, 82, starred in the TV shows "It Takes a Thief," "Switch" and "Hart to Hart."

Cuban actors seek asylum in U.S.

MIAMI, April 30 (UPI) -- Two Cuban actors who disappeared en route to New York's Tribeca Film Festival say they are seeking political asylum in the United States.

The whereabouts of Javier Nunez Florian and Anailin de la Rua, both 20, were unknown for a week after they flew from Cuba to Miami, but many suspected they had defected during a layover in the Florida city. They had been expected to continue on to New York where their movie "Una Noche" was screened to great acclaim, but they never arrived.

In an interview that aired during the weekend, they told the Spanish-language TV channel America TeVe in Miami they want to pursue careers in the United States.

"What I most want is to continue acting. It's what I like most, but if I can't attain that dream I would work at something else, because what I want is to fight," Fox News quoted Nunez as saying.

De la Rua said she feels she is a part of the generation of young Cubans desperately seeking to leave the communist country.

"Thank God, I came to this country by plane and not by sea," she said, referring to how the characters in her film travel by raft in an attempt to start new lives in the United States.

Fox News said Nunez and De la Rua met while making the movie and are now a couple.

Their lawyer, Willy Allen, said he is in the process of preparing papers to request asylum on their behalf.

"I think that next week we'll present them and we'll be able to have a response relatively quickly," Allen said in the America TeVe interview, which aired Friday night.

Mendoza gets the boot on 'Apprentice'

NEW YORK, April 30 (UPI) -- Former Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza became the latest contestant fired on the business-themed reality series "The Celebrity Apprentice" in New York.

The show's producer and judge Donald Trump fired Mendoza on Sunday's episode after her team failed to impress him with its creation and performance of a 90-second jingle promoting Good Sam's Roadside Assistance Program, EW.com said.

Still competing this season are "American Idol" veteran Clay Aiken, comedian Arsenio Hall, comedienne Lisa Lampanelli, singer and actress Aubrey O'Day and "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Teresa Giudice.

Already eliminated from the show were comedian Penn Jillette, "American Chopper" star Paul Teutul Sr., actor Lou Ferrigno, singers Debbie Gibson and Dee Snider, actresses Tia Carrere and Patricia Velasquez, radio host Adam Carolla, "Star Trek" actor George Takei, IndyCar team owner Michael Andretti, author Victoria Gotti and supermodel Cheryl Tiegs.

The last person standing will receive a $250,000 check to be given to a designated charity.

Kevin Jonas to star in E! reality series

LOS ANGELES, April 30 (UPI) -- U.S. cable network E! says it plans to air a reality show about pop singer Kevin Jonas and his wife, Danielle.

Jonas is a member of the fraternal music group the Jonas Brothers. He met Danielle Deleasa while on a family vacation in the Bahamas, and the couple married in 2009.

"Danielle is living a true Cinderella story after marrying into pop royalty, partnering in Kevin's larger-than-life career and becoming a 'Jonas,' a name synonymous with hit music and a worldwide fan base," Lisa Berger, president of entertainment programming for E!, said in a statement Monday.

"The series presents a unique look at a young couple and their families from two entirely different worlds -- one small town and one dealing with international fame -- coming together as one and starting a whole new life together."

"Married to Jonas" is to premiere Aug. 19.
