MANCHESTER, N.H., April 29 (UPI) -- A former Miss New Hampshire USA is facing charges she punched, kicked, scratched and bit her boyfriend, police say.

Nicole Houde, 26, allegedly assaulted Scott Nickerson, 33, of Manchester Wednesday during an argument over his allegations she was having an affair, city police Lt. Michael Hurley told the New Hampshire Union Leader. Nickerson allegedly took her cellphone and wouldn't give it back.

Houde, the 2010 Miss New Hampshire USA, was arrested later at work and charged with simple assault, Hurley said.

He said she was later arrested while at work.

The New York Daily News reported Houde is not the first Miss USA contender to run afoul of the law. Previously this month, 2010 Miss USA Rima Fakih pleaded no contest to drunken driving charges and last May Miss Wisconsin USA Shaletta Porterfield was charged with identity theft, the newspaper said.
