ULU GROSBARD: Stage and film director Ulu Grosbard has died in New York, his family said. He was 83.

The Los Angeles Times reported he died late Sunday or early Monday. The cause of his death was not disclosed.

Born in Belgium, Grosbard left Antwerp with his family when he was 12 and lived in Cuba for six years before emigrating to the United States in 1946.

The University of Chicago graduate and Korean War veteran began his entertainment career as an assistant director, working with Elia Kazan on "Splendor in the Grass," Sidney Lumet on "The Pawnbroker" and Arthur Penn on "The Miracle Worker," the Times noted.

He was later nominated for Tony Awards for helming the Broadway productions of "The Subject Was Roses" in 1965 and "American Buffalo" in 1977. Other directing credits included "A View From the Bridge," "The Price," "The Floating Light Bulb" and "The Wake of Jamey Foster."

His film credits include "True Confessions," "Georgia," "Falling in Love" and "The Deep End of the Ocean."

He is survived by his wife, actress Rose Gregorio, whom he married in 1965.

KIM KARDASHIAN: A woman was detained by security guards after allegedly dousing Kim Kardashian with white powder at a public appearance at a West Hollywood hotel, police said.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said it took a non-criminal battery report Thursday night in connection with the incident.

The Los Angeles Times said officers were called to the scene, but the reality TV star declined medical attention and told police she did not intend to press charges against the woman, who was not identified.

Kardashian went back to her room, cleaned up and returned a short time later in a new outfit. The woman who allegedly threw the powder at her was released at the scene, the Times said.

TORI SPELLING: U.S. actress and reality television personality Tori Spelling says she is pregnant with her fourth child.

Spelling, 38, married actor Dean McDermott, 45, in 2006. She gave birth to daughter Hattie Margaret five months ago. Hattie has a brother Liam, 5, and sister Stella, 3.

"Dean, Liam, Stella, Hattie, and I are beyond thrilled to announce that another little McDermott is on the way! We feel truly blessed that another angel has found us. Love, Tori xoxo," Spelling said Friday on her Web site.

She did not say what the baby's gender is or when he or she is expected to be born.

Spelling and McDermott have appeared in the reality TV shows "Tori & Dean: sTORIbook Weddings," "Tori & Dean: Inn Love" and "Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood."

MARIA BELLO: Former "Prime Suspect" star Maria Bello has signed on for a role in the new U.S. drama series "Touch," Deadline.com reported.

The actress is to appear in a multi-episode arc in the current first season with an option to become a series regular if the drama is renewed for a second season as expected, the entertainment news Web site said.

The show stars Kiefer Sutherland as widower Martin and David Mazouz as Jake, who can predict events by reading numbers in a special way. Bello will play a woman whose daughter shared a similar gift, Deadline.com said.
