The latest news on today's hottest celebrities ...

TONY IOMMI: British rock guitarist Tony Iommi is in the early stages of lymphoma, said a message posted on Black Sabbath's Web site Monday.

"His band-mates would like everyone to send positive vibes to the guitarist at this time," the posting said. "Iommi is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan -- the 'Iron Man' of Rock & Roll remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery."

The news comes as Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward were writing and recording their first new album together in 33 years in Los Angeles.

The musicians said they are now heading to England to work with Iommi, 63, as he undergoes treatment.

The band said it still expects to release the as-yet-untitled CD this fall.

NICK CANNON: Nick Cannon's publicist says the "America's Got Talent" host has been discharged from a Los Angeles-area hospital after suffering mild kidney failure.

Cannon's wife, singer Mariah Carey, said he fell ill last weekend in Aspen, Colo., where they were ringing in the new year with their infant twins. He was hospitalized in Colorado, and then transferred to a facility closer to home in California. The exact nature of and treatment for his ailment had not been disclosed.

"Nick Cannon was released over the weekend to be with his family. He is resting and recovering at home and would like to thank everyone who has expressed concern, well wishes and prayers," his representative told People.com Monday. "He plans to return to his live morning radio show broadcast 'Rollin' with Nick Cannon' on 92.3 NOW FM on Jan. 17."

SNOOP DOGG: Rapper Snoop Dogg was arrested in Texas for alleged marijuana possession during the weekend, law-enforcement sources told TMZ.

The hip-hop icon was arrested when his tour bus was stopped at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, the same town where country crooner Willie Nelson was arrested for the same infraction in 2010.

A drug-sniffing dog alerted border-patrol authorities, who then searched Snoop Dogg's bus and allegedly found a stash of marijuana, TMZ reported.

The report said the rapper admitted the cannabis was his and said he had a prescription for it in California, but Texas authorities said it is not valid out-of-state.

The entertainment news Web site said Snoop Dogg was issued a citation for misdemeanor drug possession and released from police custody.

JAMIE BELL: Jamie Bell and Evan Rachel Wood have gotten engaged more than five years after they started dating, a source close to the Hollywood couple told UsMagazine.com.

Bell, 25, is the star of the current blockbuster "The Adventures of Tintin." He is best known for his work in the movie version of "Billy Elliott."

Wood, 24, is a member of the cast of TV's "True Blood."

UsMagazine.com published a photo taken Saturday of the couple with Wood wearing a dazzling new ring, but the celebrity news Web site said Wood's representative declined to comment on its report.

Bell and Wood met in 2005 and dated for a year starting in 2006, then broke up and reconciled last summer. Wood was previously engaged to shock rocker Marilyn Manson.
