NEW YORK, Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Television personality and former first lady of New York Donna Hanover has joined the cast of the Broadway revival of Gore Vidal's "The Best Man."
Producers Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel said Wednesday former Mayor Rudy Giuliani's ex-wife had signed up for a role in the play along with Jefferson Mays and Dakin Matthews.
They join previously announced stars James Earl Jones, Angela Lansbury, John Larroquette, Candice Bergen, Michael McKean and Eric McCormack.
The ensemble is to begin rehearsals Jan. 30, with the first preview performance planned for March 6 and opening night set for April 1 at Manhattan's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.
The play is about "power, ambition, political secrets, ruthlessness and the race for the presidency," a synopsis said. It "is set at the national convention where two candidates are vying for their party's nomination during the primary season. It's an inside look at the dirt-digging, double-dealing, triple-crossing chicanery of presidential electioneering and what could be more fun in a presidential campaign season than these theatrical fireworks."
