The latest news on today's hottest celebrities ...

MICHELLE DUGGAR: U.S. reality television personality and mother of 19 children Michelle Duggar suffered a miscarriage Thursday, her husband Jim Bob told Us Weekly.

Michelle Duggar, 45, was expected to give birth to her 20th child in April.

"Earlier today at a routine doctor's appointment, Michelle and I received the sad news that we lost the baby," Jim Bob Duggar told Us. "Michelle is resting comfortably at home with the support of the entire family. We are grateful for all the thoughts and prayers, but ask for privacy during this difficult time."

The Arkansas family stars on TV's "19 Kids and Counting." The Duggars have children who range in age from 1 to 23.

EDDIE MURPHY: Eddie Murphy has signed on to play former Washington Mayor Marion Barry in an HBO movie, a source close to the project told The Hollywood Reporter.

Spike Lee is to direct the movie, as yet untitled, which is being written by John Ridley, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said Thursday.

Barry was mayor from 1979 to 1991 and 1995 to 1999. He is currently a member of the Washington City Council.

Murphy made headlines last month when he backed out of plans to serve as host of February's 84th Academy Awards show.

The comedian's decision came a day after his "Tower Heist" director Brett Ratner resigned as the ceremony's producer, following criticism he received for making a homophobic remark during a public question and answer session for the big-screen comedy.

Ratner later apologized for saying "rehearsal is for fags," but his critics still called for him to be ousted as Oscar producer.

SINEAD O'CONNOR: Irish singer Sinead O'Connor married Barry Herridge Thursday night at A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, People.com said.

The couple dated for several months before exchanging vows in the brief, quirky ceremony.

"She wanted to do the whole thing in a Cadillac. That was her thing," the celebrity magazine quoted a witness as saying. "She cried during the vows and had to wipe her eyes."

The event took place on the "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer's 45th birthday.

People.com said employees of the chapel sang "Happy Birthday" to the bride after the wedding.

O'Connor has been divorced three times.

The Hollywood Reporter described Herridge as a therapist who answered O'Connor's online appeal for a mate.

RAINEY QUALLEY: Rainey Qualley has been named Miss Golden Globe 2012, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association said Thursday.

Qualley is the daughter of actress Andie McDowell and former model Paul Qualley.

Every year, the child of a celebrity couple is chosen to help hand out statuettes at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony.

The 2012 event honoring the best in film and television for 2011 is to take place Jan. 15 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

British comedian Ricky Gervais is to serve as host of the presentation.
