LONDON, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- George Michael canceled his show at London's Royal Albert Hall Wednesday night because of a virus, a spokesman for the British singer said.

The concert, featuring a full orchestra, was postponed Wednesday afternoon on the advice of a doctor who said Michael needed time to recover before Friday's show.

Michael has been touring with his "Symphonica: The Orchestral Tour" since August and played the tour's first concert in London Tuesday night.

"He is disappointed that he cannot perform ... but he has been advised to rest. He received a tremendous reaction from the audience last night and is very sorry that he has had to postpone," a spokesman said Wednesday.

The concert will be rescheduled at a later date.
