Joseph Hyungmin Son, who played henchman Random Task in "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery," was considered a suspect in the death of the other prisoner, whose name was not released, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Officials at the Wasco State Prison Reception Center in Kern County said he victim, a 50-year-old parole violator who had failed to register as a sex offender, was found dead Monday. The cause of death was under investigation.

Son had been at Wasco since Sept. 16, following his conviction in the Orange County abduction and sexual assault of a woman who had been walking her dog on Christmas Eve 1990.

Son was arrested in the cold-case crime after a DNA sample -- taken from him following his arrest in a felony vandalism case in 2008 -- connected him to the 1990 crime.
