NAVAL AIR FACILITY EL CENTRO, Calif., Oct. 7 (UPI) -- British military officials said Prince Harry will use live fire for the first time during helicopter gunship training in California and Arizona.

British Army Lt. Col. Peter Bullen said Harry, who is known as Capt. Harry Wales on the airfield, will soon begin his training on Apache helicopters at the U.S. bases, and he may be deployed to the front lines of Afghanistan if he passes the two months of training as well as a further four to six months of training back in England, CNN reported Friday.

Officials said Harry's arrival date in the United States has not been disclosed and the training will take place out of the public eye.

Harry, third in line for the British throne, previously served as a forward air controller in Afghanistan and saw combat.
